Hello, I’m Shannon Joy!

Like all of humanity, I am many things. Artist, Writer, Public Speaker, Advocate, Mom, are a few of my favorite “titles” to wear and share with others. I believe in the power of creativity and authenticity to change our world. I believe in loving people freely and without reservation. I believe we should care for our planet, so our children can have a place to live and love as they grow up. I believe adventure is the key to a life well-lived and experience is always the best teacher. I believe dancing and laughter are a daily necessity. And, I truly believe we all want to make the world a better place.

 Shannon Joy’s Bio

As an artist, Shannon uses her painting and passion to address the issues of our time and bring joy to people in numerous ways.

She has painted everything from large-scale murals to mini art on post-it notes. Her "canvas" can be actual canvas... or RV's, walls, windows, wood or any other paintable surface.

Whether she is painting for an individual or a business, her art is about telling stories, designing powerful pieces that keep people thinking long after they've left the view. You can find her work across seven countries and in over twenty-five states in the US.

Shannon's advocacy is one of her top priorities. She has lobbied the Missouri legislature for expanding the stalking statute, lifetime protection orders, Medicaid expansion and eliminating the cliff effect of welfare. She is also known as a public advocate for women, victims, and people with limited resources. She speaks to raise awareness and inspire creativity in solving the issues of poverty and violence. She also contributes 10% of all original painting sales to different charities.

She was named Single Mom's Ambassador of the Year for her work with single moms in Greene County. You can typically find her speaking and painting at events that empower women and children, inspiring entrepreneurship throughout the community, or educating other people who also want to change the world.

She has also co-authored 7 books including an expose on human rights violations in China and a book teaching principles of decision making aimed toward at-risk youth.

Shannon's story, her art, and her advocacy have been featured on the Starting Over Stronger Podcast, Enrichment Today Podcast, Face to Face with Tarrance Weaver, Artist Academy Podcast, and A-Roma-Therapy Podcast as well as Randy Bacon's 7 Billion Ones, One Million Cups - Springfield, and Abundantly YOU.

She and her work have also have been featured in the Kansas City Star, the St. Louis Post, the Columbia Daily Tribune and the Springfield News Leader.

Her determination to change the world one word at a time can be found in her long-running blog - RoughHewnDiamond, her Shannon Joy Art Blog or with her Joy Club monthly subscription.

Shannon currently resides in Missouri with her two children Agix and Ash... and Harlow, the Pomeranian queen of the household.

Meet The Team

The kids are very involved with the company - helping with social media ideas, setting up for shows and events, reaching all the tall things, even blocking in murals and painting backgrounds on occasion - it's very much a family business. They are both avid adventure seekers who enjoy traveling together and discovering new foods and cultures. You can expect to see them at every big project.

When the books get put away, Agix becomes the logic and planning behind the scenes of Shannon Joy Creative, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and asking all the hard questions. If you want to simplify things down to black and white, Agix is the person to ask.

Ash loves being in the spotlight, going to mural locations and bringing laughter and light to everyone that stops by. Being an expert in all things TikTok, dancing has become an important aspect of everyday life and when anyone needs reminders or creativity to spice up their social media, Ash is always there with an idea.

Harlow enjoys being involved also, traveling with the family and ensuring she is always in the perfect place for someone to trip and have to give her mandatory pets. She is a drive-through aficionado and you can't even say a certain word that starts with Star unless you're ready to get her a pup cup at that very moment.

Giving Back

A portion of all sales from original paintings goes towards funding different charitable organizations.

It is a great honor to sponsor programs that are making a difference in our world. Thank you so much for the kindness, love and care that helps me make a difference too!
