Shannon Joy’s Bio
As an artist, Shannon uses her painting and passion to address the issues of our time and bring joy to people in numerous ways.
She has painted everything from large-scale murals to mini art on post-it notes. Her "canvas" can be actual canvas... or RV's, walls, windows, wood or any other paintable surface.
Whether she is painting for an individual or a business, her art is about telling stories, designing powerful pieces that keep people thinking long after they've left the view. You can find her work across seven countries and in over twenty-five states in the US.
Shannon's advocacy is one of her top priorities. She has lobbied the Missouri legislature for expanding the stalking statute, lifetime protection orders, Medicaid expansion and eliminating the cliff effect of welfare. She is also known as a public advocate for women, victims, and people with limited resources. She speaks to raise awareness and inspire creativity in solving the issues of poverty and violence. She also contributes 10% of all original painting sales to different charities.
She was named Single Mom's Ambassador of the Year for her work with single moms in Greene County. You can typically find her speaking and painting at events that empower women and children, inspiring entrepreneurship throughout the community, or educating other people who also want to change the world.
She has also co-authored 7 books including an expose on human rights violations in China and a book teaching principles of decision making aimed toward at-risk youth.
