Ever the Imposter

Lately, I've been stretching myself to see what I'm capable of, and it's been an interesting, uncomfortable experience. Feeling like an imposter hits hard sometimes, but I keep pushing through… because if there is anything I know, it's that waiting for CONFIDENCE sets us up for failure. Action has to come before confidence if there's ever going to be a chance of success.

I know a lot of people, especially in the creative world, struggle with “imposter syndrome”. Thats the belief that you aren't good enough, or that you have to know it all before you can begin, and it typically hits right before you're about to do something really important.

The thing is, confidence typically comes from knowledge and certainty… and if we are growing, there is no certainty and we will always have a lot to learn.

So how do you beat imposter syndrome?

You learn to trust yourself. You take a small step. You gift yourself compassion. You do the things you set out to do. You create new habits. And you trust the process.

When you make space for yourself to be vulnerable and new, you give yourself the gift of growth. Imposter syndrome forces you to get to know yourself and figure out exactly what you want.

As you listen to yourself and acknowledge your feelings, you'll find that it becomes easier to trust yourself and THAT will translate to confidence and life changes.

Remember that, no matter where you are in the process, you have everything it takes to accomplish your dreams.
